NAIDOC Week Mount Buninyong Trail

Last Tuesday, 11 students made their way around the Mount Buninyong Trail as part of NAIDOC week. Students were able to see the posters they created, pinned along the trail, and kept a close eye out for any plants and animals that were within sight. Students were lucky enough to encounter some beautiful plants, an echidna and many different birds. Students made a video, live from the mount, showcasing the tremendous effort they made in creating the posters and putting together a great learning journey for all the community to see. This was broadcasted in Friday’s whole school assembly. Many thanks again to Bianca Fammartino for coming along to Mount Buninyong and sharing all your time and knowledge with the students. 

School Photos

The Scotsburn students will be having their school photos on Friday 20th November. Students will start the day at the Buninyong campus, meeting in the courtyard. A bus has been booked to transport the students back to Scotsburn as soon as the photos have been taken. 

Pie Drive

Hopefully an order form for our Scotsburn Pie Drive made it home in your child’s bag. A big thanks to Laura for organising this. It would be great if families could support this fundraiser by purchasing some items and returning the order form and CASH ONLY to your child’s teacher by no later than Wednesday 25th November. 

P-2 Fun Afternoon

Due to the Prep – 2 sleepover not going ahead this year, Scotsburn staff have decided to hold a fun afternoon for the P-2 children between 3:30 pm and 5:30 pm on Thursday November 26th! Children are invited to stay behind after school and participate in a range of fun activities and have a BBQ tea with the staff. If your child has any dietary requirements, please contact Mrs Anderson. Students are asked to be collected at 5:30 pm from the front gates to ensure we maintain safety protocols. Any questions, please feel free to contact Scotsburn staff. 

Gr 6 Camp

The Gr 6’s from both Campuses will be camping at Scotsburn on Thursday 3rd – Friday 4th December. As such, SC1, SC2 & the Scotsburn Gr 5’s will be spending those 2 days at the Buninyong campus in the Gr 6 end of the BER. We’ll provide more information in next week’s newsletter.

Friday Rotations 

Our Friday rotations for Term 4 have been enjoyable. It’s been so nice to see the students gardening, cooking and learning more about sustainability. Students enjoyed the opportunity on Friday to harvest the school grown vegetables and give them away to our families to include in some home cooked meals. Although due to Remote Learning we have not spent as much time as we would have liked this year growing and caring for our vegetable garden, it was great to see a range of different vegetables and herbs still ready for the picking. The garden has been producing beans, baby spinach, silverbeet, rhubarb, radishes, potatoes, garlic and some herbs. 

Lunchtime Club

It has been so nice to see some students supporting smaller groups of students at break times to help them find fun things to do. The soccer game and our lunchtime club have been a big hit. Well done to all of the students who have been organising these activities.

A reminder that lunch orders will only be available for Scotsburn students on a Wednesday in Term 4. A big thanks to the wonderful ladies in the office who have offered to bring them up for the kids.
