~ Do all that you do with love ~

Dear Parents and Friends of St Therese's Primary School,

Christians believe they are Easter people because the resurrection of Jesus shows that suffering, disappointment and death can be transformed into new life. Christians believe that they live this pattern now and that it will continue after death. Easter gives us hope – a hope that promises fullness of life.

Easter commemorates the joyful celebration of Christ’s resurrection and continues for the fifty days from Easter Sunday to Pentecost. During this season and every season of the Church’s year, prayer can nurture our relationship in faith with God and one another.

To celebrate the resurrection of Jesus the students participated in Alleluia Day on the first day of Term 2. Please read the Deputy Principal's page in this newsletter as Michelle Hinds has outlined the day's events and included many happy photos of children enjoying the day as well as the Caritas Kilometres social justice project to raise money for those who are not as fortunate as ourselves.

On Tuesday 26th April, staff were involved in a professional learning day with educational consultant Tracey Ezard. Tracey has written books about developing a positive school's organisational culture. Professional learning days are very important for staff to continually learn and update skills that assist teachers and support staff to impact the learning of all students.

Recently, the Victorian Government announced an easing of Covid-19 restrictions, and a letter was sent to all families with what this means for families and students at school. I have included the information sheet here for your reference.

Please continue to use the RATs to test your child for Covid twice per week. If your child is unwell with symptoms, please keep them at home, and if the test shows a positive result please inform the school as soon as possible. Close contacts are now not required to isolate unless they are unwell. It would be appreciated if parents could inform the school if their child is a Close Contact so that we can manage any potential outbreaks of this virus.

Over the next couple of months, the staff will be learning about the newly revised and updated Child Safe Standards. I have included a link to an overview of the Child Safe Standards in various languages.

City of Casey are very proud and excited to release our third Safe Around Schools education animation for this year on Driving Around Schools Safely.

Watch and share our new animation to find out more:

This animation focuses on driver behaviour around the school precinct, 40km school zones signs, No Stopping, No Parking, the Drop off Pick up zone and what they mean as well as road safety education and good role modelling from parents/carers for our children around the school precinct.  When all families follow the signs, the traffic flows better and it is safer for our children.

Finally, I wish to announce that we have successfully appointed Mrs Cathy Colaciello as Year 4B teacher. Cathy will begin at St Therese's School on May 16 and will remain in 4B until the end of the year while Mrs Brockman is on maternity leave. Cathy will be at school this Friday to meet the class.

Best wishes
