Swimming Carnival

The 2020 Mater Dei Catholic College Twilight Swimming Carnival was held on Thursday 6 February, in mild but windy conditions at the OASIS. Students from all Houses competed with great spirit under the College catch-cry of “5 Houses - 1 Home” in diving, championship and novelty events. House pride was on the line and the House Coordinators and Captains led the way with a highlight of the night once again being the House Chants, taken out by Rosarie. A big thank you must go to all staff for their hard work in ensuring another successful College event.

The Mater Dei Swimming Carnival aims to provide opportunity for competition as well as participation. In 2020 more than 420 students competing in close to 1000 individual swims.  This shows a fantastic school and House spirit and a willingness to participate. The novelty events again proved popular and gave all students the chance to represent their House and contribute points for the carnival. It was great to see so many parents cheering on the competitors throughout the night. Thank you to all involved for the help in running the events and timing system and invaluable help in preparation for the carnival.
