Staff

As we move into the 2022 year, I would like to welcome the following staff member who has joined the Kilbreda community.

Kaylene Ball

Kaylene joins us in the role of Wellbeing and Compliance Assistant.  Kaylene most recently worked at DST People where she held the position of Marketing and Business Administration Manager.

Kaylene brings a broad range of knowledge with her to Kilbreda with extensive experience across the areas of teaching, business administration and marketing. She has coordinated large scale events and trade fairs and facilitated workplace training, coaching and employee profiling. She is also a provisionally accredited meditation teacher and passionate about all things ‘mindfulness’.

Kaylene says, "My inspiration for working in education comes from the teachings of Hugh Van Cuylenburg (The Resilience Project) and his principles encapsulating gratitude, empathy and mindfulness in contributing to positive mental health, along with Carol Dweck’s (Professor at Stamford University) work in 'Growth Mindset', research providing insight into our beliefs around learning and intelligence."

‘Shine a Light On'

‘Shine a Light On' provides our College community a snapshot into the professional lives of our staff and what makes them ‘tick’ on a daily basis. Whilst we know that our staff do an amazing job, it is not as often that we publicly acknowledge the work that they do and the many wonderful ways that they contribute to the learning journeys of our students.

This week at the College we are profiling Ms Lucy Bush, one of our Learning Diversity Assistants.

Lucy says, "Working at Kilbreda College has always felt like a return to the community that encouraged me to nurture Strength and Kindliness in my secondary years. Although daunting, rejoining the workforce after having kids has been, and continues to be the most challenging and rewarding choice. I have always been passionate about advocacy and standing up for those who are unable to do it for themselves.

Being a Learning Diversity Assistant provides me with the opportunity to build relationships and foster a feeling of belonging in our most vulnerable students. I am driven to learn more about disability and build a better understanding of how to support these students in the classroom. Ideally I would love to grow and upskill to one day be a secondary teacher, but for now I am busy being a mum of two boys with ASD/ADHD and making the most of my position as an LDA at Kilbreda".
