A Message from Hannah & Keir

We would like to acknowledge the Wurundjeri Woi-Wurrung people of the Kulin Nation as the traditional custodians of the land on which our school stands. We pay our respects to all First Nations elders, past present and emerging.

Step by Step

It is very likely that your child/children came home pretty tired a few times last term as we regained our ‘match-fitness’ being back at school. We hope that the two weeks holiday was enough for everyone to recharge because our term 2 is already jam packed with exciting events and legendary learnings!

After just four days at school this term, we have been able to experience some much missed activities. Last week our Foundies went on their first ever excursion to Collingwood Children’s Farm, our staff have met together (and in person) for the first time all year, our 5/6s attended their first interschool sports day and our entire school met for assembly for the first time in years - outdoors of course.

This week we have the Annual Public Meeting (like an AGM, but not an AGM), where our school council will share our 2021 Annual Report and our sub committees will reflect on what they achieved in 2021 and what they plan to achieve over the coming year.

The real excitement for the week is planned for Friday 6th May where we have our first Autumn Family Day in a number of years (and our first chance to get together all year!), this will also be our first plant and produce market in yonks and the first mud fun event our school has ever experienced (but hopefully not the last!).

Community Forum - Phonics @ BNWPS

On Tuesday 10th May at 6pm, we will be facilitating our second Community forum for the year and our focus will be on Phonics. The research and theory behind the teaching and learning of phonics evolves so quickly that it is sometimes difficult to keep up with what should be best practice. Our Literacy team will be sharing information about how we approach the teaching and learning of phonics at BNWPS. As with all of our community forums, we would encourage community members to ask any phonics related questions that they might have using the following link, and we can then tailor the presentation to the needs of the community.

Please enter any questions or wonderings you may have about the teaching and learning of phonics here;

And use this link to access the Forum at 6pm on Tuesday 10th May;
