Year 9 Smarts - All Things Bikes

This term a group of Year 9 students have been getting out and about on two wheels in their Smarts Class each week. A focus of this course is exposing students to a variety of cycling disciplines to increase their knowledge in riding techniques and bike maintenance.

This week students were taken to the Cyclocross Course, which is in the same location as the Velodrome, and they had the opportunity to do a few laps. It was hot so the sprinklers out on the course made things a lot more enjoyable.

Thank you to the Alice Springs Cycling Club for allowing us the opportunity to use the space, as well as the members of the club and the local mountain biking club (CARR) for all the hard work that has recently gone into the Cyclocross Course, with the development of berms and more obstacles.

We look forward to more opportunities to work with the local clubs, with some velodrome lessons scheduled in and hopefully working towards some BMX sessions too.
