Boarding

Our 76 boarders have all returned safe and well from their holiday break. Travelling from far and wide our first week back has been quite an experience in returning to the busy-ness of the school. Over the break some of our boarders didn’t simply take the time to sit back and relax, some used this time to dive further into their passions, travel Australia on camping trips, and reconnect with family and friends. However, for three boarders there time was something very special. Yong Soeung Ly and Yong An Ly were hosted by Erica and Chris Solum. The wonderful Solum family are a College family who are well connected to the Junior School as well as having a strong connection and history with Cambodia as they worked there only a few years ago. Erica and Chris were so very kind to host our Ly boys who were just beaming after their two-week break. Not only did Yong Soeung celebrate his 17th birthday he also caught his first fish! The boys enjoyed time in Hamilton, Bendigo, and Melbourne. They hiked, camped out, did some shopping in Melbourne and simply relaxed and recharged.

I thank the Solum family for their genuine care and compassion for the Ly boys. Thank you.

Frank Xu, is in Year 8 and was also hosted by a College family this past Easter holiday. The Ressom family located in Koroit had taken Frank under their wing and what wonderful care they did indeed take of Frank. Jo and Ohm Ressom not only provided a wonderful array of Thai cooking for Frank, but they had taken Frank on local excursions which also did include some rigorous physical activity! The quality time our international boarders spend with our College families is simply not a hosting partnership, it is a life learning experience whereby boarders are making memories for life.

I thank the Ressom family for their kindness and genuine passion in caring for Frank during our Easter break.
