Killara Schools Partnership

Strings Ensemble Monday 2 May

What a wonderful start to our collaborative workshops between Killara High School and Lindfield East and Killara Public Schools. Students from these three schools came together on Monday 2 May in our Kerrabee Theatre to rehearse and then perform Silhouette by Alan Lee Silva and Ukrainian Folk Songs – Solders’ March, Wedding Song and Kolomeka arranged by Sandra Dackow.

Students from Year 2 to Year 11 first rehearsed, with the high school students mentoring the primary school musicians. Some students had not seen the music before but worked so hard under the direction of Mar’yana Sywak, our fabulous conductor, that they performed superbly in the concert.

The parents were thrilled to hear the rich sound produced by the sixty musicians as they obviously enjoyed the unique experience of hearing themselves as part of a large string ensemble.

A big thank you to all the wonderful parents who support their students along their musical journey. Grace Dale, music teacher at Killara High School worked behind the scenes to ensure all ran smoothly.

We are all looking forward to the KSP String Ensemble’s next performance on Tuesday 14 June 3.30 pm to 7.00 pm.
