Hockey (Boys Division 2)
On Wednesday afternoons for the past six weeks, a group of boys from Years 9 and 10 (with help from one Year 8 and a couple of Year 7 students) have played in the Friends’ team of the Boys Hockey Division 2. This has been held at the Tasmanian Hockey Centre.
Last week the boys played in the semi-final against Hutchins and won which qualified them to play against Taroona in the final.
On Wednesday evening, the boys played in an excellent display of hockey to go on and win the Final scoring 4-3. Before half time the boys were 3-0 up with goals being scored by Josh Walker (Year 10), Angus McMullen (Year 7) and Lachie Mills (Year 10).
After half time Taroona went on to score two goals. This made the Friends' boys more determined, leading one of the team's youngest players, Angus McMullen (Year 7) to score one further goal for the team. At full time, the Taroona team had earned a penalty corner which resulted in a goal. Throughout the season, the team showed great communication, teamwork, skill and resilience which has resulted in a wonderful outcome.

Japanese Sports Day
At the end of April, Morris students participated in an Undoukai - A Japanese Sports Festival to celebrate our Japanese language program.
Year 6 students led the younger children in collaborative sports games using the Japanese language and modelling Japanese etiquette. The concept of the day was ‘Ganbarimashou’ which translates as ‘Let’s do it together, let’s give our best, good luck’. The focus of the day was collaboration and working together as a team.
