Principal's Report
Flexible. Resilient. Positive. 2021
Students returned to school on a few rather challenging days for many families in Victoria and the metropolitan areas. We had only minor damage at the school with one large tree coming down in the storm on Wednesday evening.
Our thoughts are with many Melburnians struggling without power and services following the storms.
Thank you to the students, staff and families in remote learning and aren't we glad to be back.
Our School Council met last week and invited the local State MP for Ringwood to attend. Elise, Luke, Ella and Lucas shared their experiences of Rangeview. Our student speeches were well received and delivered with passion for their time at Rangeview. A thank you note was sent by Luke and Elise.
School Council spent time unpacking how community projects are funded and how to build support for future improvements. We shared the master plan concept for a potential half school rebuild. This was developed last year with representation from staff, students and school council. We are planning a launch for community feedback next term.
Our school council members have accessed training modules remotely:
I appreciate the parents and staff taking on the training that will be invaluable learning for their roles as representatives of the parent community.
Another great project completed replacing a structurally unsound retaining wall funded by Emergency Maintenance Funding. Our school paid for the additional outdoor learning space - the deck overlooking the oval. We can see many future school events and community use of the space- a substantial outcome for the school. The works started in March 2021 but has has temporary fencing around it for nearly a year. We all agree it was worth the wait.
Administration Office: Kim Winters
I welcome Kim Winters to our wonderful school as the replacement for Robyn Gardiner who is on leave for the remainder of this year. Kim had joined the admin team during this recent lockdown.
The student led conferences will go ahead as planned on Tuesday and Thursday this week. Families have booked their times with teachers on Sentral.
We are seeking feedback for our school review in term 3 through the Community Padlet.
The feedback will be reviewed by School Council and Leadership and staff. Thank you for the many contributions already included.
Monday July 26 - revisiting Seven Steps to Writing Success, Heggerty Phonics and Maths. Final preparations for the school review in August
Wednesday October 13 - CUST (Cultural and Safety Training) - the date pending approval by School Council
