Rotary International - National Youth Science Forum

Each year, Rotary runs a National Youth Science Forum. This program is available to Yr 12 students with a passion and interest in science, and brings participants from all over the country to explore science as a vocation and to introduce them to some of the leading voices in the sector.  Castlemaine Secondary College has been regularly represented and the feedback from participants is that the event has been a major influence and highlight. Most recently Beth Mellick Cooper and Elwyn Carlisle attended.  I am sure that they would be great ambassadors for the program.

The 2022 NSYF Year 12 Program wil run similar to the 2021 program; as a a 12 day digital and in person program designed to give the students a broader understanding of the diverse study and career options available in science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM) and to encourage continued studies in these fields.

The January session will run from 10 to 25 January, and students will have opportunities to:

  • participate in tours of science and technology facilities, and learn about cutting edge research
  • engage with industry partners and research providers;
  • learn about university and STEM career pathways;
  • mix with other like-minded students from all over Australia; and
  • network with former NYSF participants to further increase understanding of STEM related study and career experiences

Students applying for 2022 NYSF Year 12 Program are required to submit an application through the NYSF website.

The 2022 NYSF Year 12 Program costs $1900, with a $25 non-refundable application fee. The Castlemaine Rotary Club will provide funding assistance of 50% and the NYSF may also provide funding assistance through our Equity Scholarships [link].

Please note that Applications can be made on line at the email address below. Note the applications close on 2nd July.

The club is willing to sponsor two students from the school, and I would ask you to make this program known to current YR 11 students you feel would benefit from the experience.

I would be happy for any interested students to contact me anytime with questions.

Warm regards
