Textiles
Year 7 Textiles
By Rasleen Kaur - St Rafka
This year in Textiles we have made some stunning and unique things and we are continuing to expand our skills. Textiles is an elective for Year 7s, which teaches us about creativity, sewing and many more. So far we have learned some basic stitching, made a felt wallet relating to the theme garden critters, stitched a heart and made a pillow. We also made a sustainable bag which was really enjoyable. We got an old t-shirt and turned it into a bag which is a really good idea for reusing items. This term we focused on using sewing machines. We have had some practice on the sewing machine and using our knowledge we made a pillow. The pillows theme is crazy critters. There was a variety of animals and fabrics that we could pick from to make our pillow. There were so many sensational things happening in the Textiles room this term. We also worked on some fashion drawing for winter and summer clothes during remote learning. At the start of the year we did lot’s of research and investigated wool and cotton. Using our knowledge we created some outfits to fit the seasons. During our time in the Textiles room we have developed many marvelous skills like investigating, managing ideas, planning and many more. We have had so many chances to show our creative minds to create some unique work.
