Years Five/Six News

ANZAC

In 5/6, we have just starting our Integrated Studies topic of ANZAC. Students have been learning about some significant ANZAC related symbols, the various wars that Australia has fought in and the landing of Gallipoli.

The students are showing a keen interest towards this ANZAC unit and have been completing lots of fantastic research, whilst always showing respect during class discussions. Throughout this unit, we will also be looking at the significance of ANZAC Day marches, what it was like for soldiers in the trenches, the importance of Indigenous Australians' involvement in wars and the story of Simpson and his donkey.

For the first four weeks of next term, we will continue to investigate Australia's involvement in the various wars, including the Kokoda trail and how it impacted Australia during the second world war. The 5/6s are also incredibly excited to take part in the ANZAC Bike Ride, which will take place on the 22nd of April.
