"Thinking about our thinking"

In Reading, students in Years One/Two have been learning all about metacognition - that is, thinking about our own thoughts! We have discovered that, to be real readers, it isn't enough to just look at and say the text (words) in a book - it's only real reading if we're also thinking about what we read.

Classrooms have developed a list of "thinking stems" to help prompt children to express their thoughts as they read. Why not try some of these out with your child during home reading?
