Principal's Report

Taking shape

School Expansion

As we approach another capital works milestone, of 80% completion, it is hard not to pinch myself and believe how close it is after so many years of committed and determined work from our School Council.

Completion is due around the end of term two, and we are working hard behind the scenes to make the experience one to remember for us all.

I can't wait to share the new site with our community - it will truly progress us all, more than we can imagine...

Parking / Traffic / Safety

We are currently undertaking Dundas Street upgrades to support our school expansion. Information pertaining to this was communicated last week to our school community.

Please be patient, supportive and respectful of current conditions.

This is all in the name of safety for all, including students, toddlers and young families.

Put simply, breaking road rules endangers lives!

Upgrades to the service road, necessitates that it is currently out of commission.  As such, cars currently parking outside the school and / or tennis courts are doing so illegally.

In addition, cars entering Dundas Street from the Dundas Place end (eastern end) to access the service road or kindergarten car park, are again, doing so illegally.

An increased presence of police and by-laws officers is in action, please do the right thing.

AGM's

At this time of the year, we undertake Annual General Meetings for our key stakeholder groups: Kindergarten; Parents & Friends Association; and School Council.

I would like to extend a huge thank you to all volunteers, on the various committees and acknowledge their valued, inspiring and skilled work.  Our volunteers come from all walks of life, with two common elements, being, children at our Kindergarten - Year 6 setting and the want to improve our learning environments to improve student opportunity and development.

We are fortunate to have great leaders within our committees.  I would like to congratulate the following members on their appointments to executive roles:

School Council President - Ben Mihail; Vice- President - Larna Woodyatt

Kindergarten President - Jess Bray; Vice-President - Meg Humm

Our Parents & Friends Association AGM will be held this Thursday 18 March at 9:00am

I look forward to working collaboratively with all committees to progress our school for our children.

While I was away

I wish to extend a huge thank you to everyone in our community, for their support to both me, but also our Acting Principal, Mrs Nissen and the wonderful staff at Miners Rest Primary School.

I thank you all for the well wishes, the texts, emails and kind words - it has been some journey, but made all the easier in the knowledge our children & students were so well supported in my absence.

The continuation of learning, albeit with a 3-day return to remote learning thrown in, (at my house too!) has been our priority.  Our families and staff continue to deliver on focused learning and you are all to be congratulated.  Please, celebrate the early achievements at next week's Student Led Conferences.

What can I say, thank you and well done!

I acknowledge the First Peoples of the Wathaurong, who are the traditional custodians of the land and waters on which I work and live, and pay my respects to their Elders past, present and emerging.
