This week, all Unit 3 Biology students undertook a practical investigation as part of their first SAC. Students were investigating the effect of changing light intensity on the rate of photosynthesis. Photosynthesis is the process by which cells synthesise the organic compound, glucose from inorganic molecules carbon dioxide and water in the presence of sunlight.
If you want to give this experiment a try at home and look as excited as Brad does, then all you need is some fresh spinach, bicarbonate soda, a drop of detergent and a plastic syringe! Hopefully, you will find that as the light intensity increases, so does the rate of photosynthesis. Follow the link below if you would like to try this out with the family:
