Year 7 Camp

Vermont Secondary College

After an action-packed start to Term 1, the Year 7's and their teachers made their way to magical Marysville to get to know each other a bit better and soak up the natural scenery. As the forest of the windy Black Spur receded, we were greeted by the quaint cabins and smiling faces of staff at Camp Marysville.

Unpacked and settled in, students and teachers gathered in smaller groups to experience all that this fantastic site had to offer. Activities at the camp included cycling, team building exercises, bush walking, bush skills, a swim in the iconic Marysville pool, a visit to the town and bushfire museum, outdoor cooking and a rock climb. Although exhausted, many students commented on the amazing happenings of the day and happily tucked into dinner, surrounded by the loud, raucous noise of the hall.

Before bed, there were some staff led activities, such as a mini-Olympics and trivia. Congratulations to teams 'Bobina & the Bois' and 'Gaga Sweats' on their outstanding victories, as well as our new Year 7 Form Captains who were announced on the night:

  • Grace Coghlan (7H1)
  • Imani Klair (7H2)
  • Thomas Woodhead (7H3)
  • Chhavi Khatti (7M1)
  • Leana Bulich (7M2)
  • Tyler Tran (7M3)
  • Max Behrman (7M4)
  • Neiva Lenko (7S1)
  • Zach Kiefel (7S2)
  • Tilly Govic (7S3)
  • Tissa Amaranayaka (7S4)

After packing up and saying our goodbyes, we descended back down the Black Spur to Vermont Secondary College. Overall, the student managers would like to praise students for their impressive behaviour on camp and their willingness to get involved in all the camp had to offer. A big thank you to all of the staff and program managers who made this camp possible. We look forward to our next time away together!
