Caritas Australia
Caritas Australia is an educational and humanitarian aid organisation working for the full realisation of human dignity and wellbeing for all people with key principles to end poverty and injustice.
Their work focuses on joining with people as they become agents of their own change.
Their vision is for "A just world, at peace and free of poverty, where all people live in dignity." (Caritas, 2021). Their mantra is simple "believe that listening and responding to community needs is necessary to tackle poverty and inequality in Australia and overseas". Caritas also seeks to engage all Australians, especially the Catholic community, to advocate and act for equality and justice for all. (Caritas, 2021).
When disaster strikes, their work focus' on working with local churches and partners to provide food, water and shelter to those most in need.
Caritas Goals are to;
DEEPER CATHOLIC IDENTITY
FULL HUMAN DEVELOPMENT
JUSTICE AND AN END TO POVERTY
We at St Raphael are committed and will continue to support Caritas.
Project Compassion 2021
As part of the Lenten season and almsgiving, the annual Project Compassion boxes have arrived and have been distributed to our families and community members.
Over the forty days of Lent we are asking our St Raphael community to do three special things: pray, fast and give (almsgiving).
The project compassion box raises money for Caritas, which support communities in need around the world. The theme of Project Compassion for 2021 is ‘Be More’. Please go to the Caritas website to see how lives are changed and the number of projects Caritas currently run and support: https://lent.caritas.org.au/
All money is to be sent to the school office. All contributions will be accepted up to the first week back of Term Two (between April 19th and April 23rd)
Thank you in advance for your support.
