The Foundation students will have their first Art lesson for the year this week! I am very excited to properly meet our new students and start getting creative :)
The Year 1/2 students have been working hard on their Van Gogh inspired collage of sunflowers. This term the students have been learning about texture. They have been adding texture to their collage in many different ways, and using adjectives to describe the texture of their work. The students have created the background with tissue paper, then made a symmetrical shaped vase and added texture by rubbing with oil pastel over a surface.
The Year 3/4's have been sculpting a figure in action using wire, foil and Modroc. Almost all of the figures have been wrapped in Modroc to make them hard and white and ready to be painted.
The Year 5/6 students have mostly all finished their clay pinch pots. Each pot must feature either texture, shape or line. The pots now need to dry out for 3 weeks before being bisque fired, glazed and fired again. Ceramic-making is a very long process, so we may need to finish the pots next term.
