St Raphael's Athletics Trials  (Years 3 - 6)

The St Raph's Athletics Trials were held last Friday at Coburg athletics track. It was a terrific day with all the students putting in a fantastic effort in each of the events. The day involved every student completing long jump, triple jump, discuss, shot put, 100m and 200m. Students were also given the option to trial for the 800m which many took up. The athletic team won't be announced for a little while as the Preston District carnival isn't taking place until August, however training will begin before then . Thank you to all the parents who came and helped as their assistance was essential in allowing the day to run as smoothly as it did.

St Raphael's Swimming Team

St Raphael's swimming team travelled to Northcote Aquatic Centre to compete in the Preston District swimming carnival last Wednesday. All the students did the school proud with the effort they put in. At the end of the day we finished second just two points behind Preston Primary. There were some fantastic performances on the day with 19 of the 25 students who attended going through to the Northern Division swimming carnival.

The Northern Division swimming carnival was then held on Monday with a good spread of students across all the events. Our U11 girls relay team of Ella Lamanna, Niamh Ryan, Odessa Lássalle and Rebecca Beninati were again successful in winning and going on to the Region Carnival which will be held later in March. Congratulations to Rebecca who also won the individual butterfly and will represent St Raphael´s in that event also at the next level. This has been a fantastic achievement by these girls, but it has been quite heartwarming to see all the students so enthusuastic and putting their best foot forward from the trials right through both carnivals. Congratulations on being fine ambassadors for our great school!
