From the Principal...

Michelle Bruitzman

Dear Parents and Friends of

St Therese's Primary School,

This week is the second week of Lent. Last Sunday, the Gospel story was taken from Mark's Gospel and is known as The Transfiguration. This is a truly mysterious story and involves characters from the Old Testament Elijah and Moses who appeared to be talking to Jesus bathed in white light.

Jesus disciples; James, Peter and John who witnessed the event on the mountain were rightly confused and amazed! They did not understand when Jesus told them that they couldn't tell anyone about what they witnessed until the Son of Man rises from the dead. They will not understand the meaning behind these words until Jesus does indeed rise from the dead.

During Lent, Catholics seek to change their lives for the better, looking for ways in which they can be more faithful to Jesus. As Catholics, we want to recommit ourselves to the good things in our lives, for example, prayer and service to others. In our thoughts and prayers this week, let’s each try to identify one thing in our life that we should be affirming during Lent and one thing that God might affirm in our lives.

Pope Francis provides some advice on service and actions this Lent.

Changes to Drop Off & Pick Up

Due to the relaxed restrictions announced on Friday February 26 by Hon. Premier Daniel Andrews, we can again allow parents onsite to drop off and pick up their children.

Any parent who enters the school grounds must sign in using the QR code that are displayed on all external doors of classrooms, the pedestrian gates and at the front office. Any parent who remains on site for more than 15 minutes must complete the Visitor Entry Declaration Form located at the front office.

If walking your child into the school grounds, please ensure that your car is parked in an area that will not block the flow of traffic on Mitchell Court or Endeavour Drive.

All other arrangements will remain in place for drop off and pick up until further notice.

School Closure Day - March 3

Don't forget that we are holding a School Closure Day on Wednesday March 3. There will be no school for students on that day. Please ensure that you have made arrangements for your child to be supervised. This is a planned School Closure for the purposes of professional development.

Harmony Day will be celebrated on Friday,19th March. Harmony Day celebrates Australia’s cultural diversity. It’s about inclusiveness, respect and a sense of belonging  for everyone.

We will celebrate the day starting with a visit from Kaboom who will lead us in some super fun team activities. We will follow this with some in class activities around the theme of harmony and finish the day with an assembly celebrating our vast cultural diversity.

We would love your child to dress in their National Costume for this event. As the assembly will be at the end of the day your child may choose to wear their sports uniform to school and change into their National Dress after lunch if necessary.

Breakfast Club

Every Thursday morning at 8:30am beginning the 11th March, cheese toasties will be served free from the canteen for Breakfast Club. Please come along and any parents who could help would be most welcome (provided you have completed the Volunteer Induction and have a WWCC).
