Pathways and Careers

Important dates for Year 12 students:
Jobs for Youth 2016
The Jobs for Youth Campaign is a whole-of-community drive to increase youth job options in Melbourne’s Inner North, running from July to October this year. Coordinated by the Inner Northern Youth Employment Taskforce, the campaign will include a range of youth-specific events and activities designed to link employers to young job-seekers and empower both to make youth employment a success. The activities are suitable for young people at all stages of their schooling and employment status.
You can find out more about this initiative and the opportunities available via this link:
http://www.jobsforyouth.com.au/
NHS is directly involved in this campaign through the RIJI program, whereby students are able to participate in a guided job activity that culminates in a simulated job application and mock interview with volunteers from local industry. In addition, you will have read in other newsletters about the extensive involvement of our students in activities facilitated by the campaign’s major sponsor, the Clifton Hill branch of the Bendigo Bank. This partnership continues to thrive and grow.
Readers who feel they would like to get involved can do so in many ways, including:
- Encouraging your child to embrace these opportunities when they arise
- Volunteering to be an interviewer in the RIJI program (October)
- Signing the employer pledge and helping a young person enter or prepare for the workforce
- Signing up to the Speaker Bank and/or volunteering to mentor a young person
Contact Kylie Witt if any of this interests you, or contact the taskforce directly via the link above.
