Personal and Academic Goals

This week has been productive and satisfying. The students continue to surprise us. They have completed their personal and academic goals for the term and will now monitor their progress over the coming weeks. We are fortunate to have respectful students who try their best.

School Council Election Results

Yesterday the votes were counted today. The three nominees with the highest number of votes, and entering a two-year term are: Monique Graham; Judith Preston and Emma Benitez. The nominee with the fourth highest votes and entering a casual one-year term is Tania Hrapkov. The two staff self-nominees entering a two-year term are Heather Gillott and Richard Earl. I thank Heather Gillott, Richard Earl, Gedda Burke, Monique Graham, Judith Preston, Emma Benitez and Tania Hrapkov for their participation in the 2021 election. I congratulate our newly elected School Council members and look forward to the 2021 Annual General Meeting at 5pm in the staffroom on Tuesday March 30th.A School Council meeting will follow the AGM approximately 5:30pm – 7.00pm

Curriculum Day

Tuesday March 9 the staff participated in professional learning on the following topics: Why Teach the Leader in Me?; Teaching the 7 Habits; Engaging Student Voice; Creating a Leadership Environment; Engaging Families; and Action Planning.

Wedding Bells

Natasha Tsiaousis is on personal leave for two weeks. She married on Sunday and is now spending quality time in Northern Queensland. We wish her all the best for her future. Kimberly Stevenson is replacing Natasha and has already developed a strong connection with the students.

Two Brothers Brewery Evening

It was a privilege to meet more than 50 parents at last week's social event. It was a great opportunity to chat with others and to make connections

Lunchtime Clubs

Lunchtime clubs run daily and it is satisfying to observe students eagerly participating. Activities include: lego, gardening, board-games, reading, and meditation. The Education Support Team do a great job providing students with alternative options over and above free play in the yard at break times.

Apollo's Arrival

We were excited to hear that Miss D had her baby. Congratulations to Danielle and her partner Gerhard on the safe arrival of Apollo Louis ( Ollie ), born 27/02/21 at 2.04pm.

Student Representative Council

The 2021 SRC met for the first time and introduced themselves to each other. They have great ideas to share. We look forward to hearing their proposals.

The Circle of Influence

Regularly the staff and students reflect on proactive character development. The Circle of Influence is a powerful tool. Reminding ourselves not to be preoccupied with the things out of our control, and focusing our attention on what we can influence, decreases stress levels. Being mindful of our circle of influence, creates a greater sense of ownership and power over our circumstances and liberates us, to a greater degree, to direct our energy in positive and creative ways.

School Uniform

It is great to see the students taking pride in their appearance. They look sharp when in their full school uniform and it creates a positive energy. Thank you to all the parents for supporting the school’s uniform policy. It is noticeable in the classroom, the playground and when venturing outside the school. The Le Page colours are calming and project our collective identity as a new school, on a mission, to be the best that we can be. Visitors on school tours regularly comment on how neat and smart our students look.

School Tours

Parents of preschool children are booking tours on a weekly basis. There is increased community interest in Le Page Primary and in 2021 we anticipate there will be three Foundation (Prep) grades, and a whole-school enrolment in excess of 200. Our first K-F transition session will be Wednesday March 31, 9.30am -10.30am.

Thought for the Week

We can never cross the ocean unless we have the courage to lose sight of the shore.

Warm regards,

George
