Acting Principal's

Report

Mr Lockhart

What a glorious weekend for the sun to re-appear after what seems to be a long absence. Unfortunately, the sunshine disappeared with two days of rain following. I think all our farming families would agree that we have had enough!!

School Review

Last week we had our School review Fieldwork Days on Wednesday 24 and Thursday 25 August.  It was led by Carol Every from Valand Solutions, assisted by Paul Hon (SEIL) and challenge partners, Christine McKersie ( Principal Wycheproof P-12 College) and Rohan Keert (Principal Cobden Technical School).

A School Review takes place every 4 years and celebrates the successes, also highlighting areas where we could improve on.  A big thank you to all staff for their participation and candid responses during this challenging time.  The results from this review will give a clear direction moving forward for the next four years.

Book Week

What a huge success this was, I think all who attended would agree. The highlight for me was our Playgroup participants, they were invited to join in and embraced it with both hands, looking sensational all dressed up on stage.  All our students from Foundation to Year 12 took time to dress up and participate which typifies our SWPBS expected behaviour under being Responsible, I will participate.  The real message here is to read, the more your child reads the greater success they will have at school.

2023 Year 7 Information Night - Monday 5 September

This coming Monday will be our Year 7 Information Night for our 2023 Year 7s.  All families are encouraged to come along with their child to hear what is in store for them next year. Looking forward to seeing everybody.

On Tuesday 6 September, Period 2A members from Dja Dja Wurrung, the Jaara people of the Kulin Nation, traditional owners of our land will conduct a traditional smoking ceremony on our school grounds.  All members of our community are invited to attend.

Opinion Survey

The Parent/Caregiver/Guardian Opinion Survey – Now Open

Our school is conducting a survey to find out what Parents/Caregivers/Guardians think of our school. The Parent/Caregiver/Guardian Opinion Survey is an annual survey offered by the Department of Education and Training that is designed to assist schools in gaining an understanding of families’ perceptions of school climate, student behavior and student engagement. We encourage all families to participate in this survey. Our school will use the survey results to help inform and direct future school planning and improvement strategies.

The Parent/Caregiver/Guardian Opinion Survey will be conducted from Monday 15 August to Friday 16 September.

The survey will be conducted online, which only takes 20 minutes to complete and can be accessed at any convenient time within the fieldwork period on desktop computers, laptops, tablets or smartphones.
