Welcome to Grade 3/4C with Miss McConnell

What’s been happening in 3/4C!

We have had a very busy end to Term 3 in 3/4C with lots of exciting school events amongst all of the amazing learning that we have been doing. Students in 3/4 have been working extremely hard over the last couple of weeks to produce their information reports about countries in South America and Africa. Each student has completed their own research on their chosen country, exploring topics such as native animals, landmarks and culture to draft their information report. Students worked through the writing process to edit and revise their writing and have begun publishing their reports this week. So far, all 3/4 teachers are so impressed by the improvement we have seen in both students' writing and computer skills!

In maths, we have been revisiting multiplication and division and practicing the strategies we can use to solve worded problems with two-digit numbers. We have explored many different multiplication strategies and the students have been challenging themselves to find ones that work best for them. We have looked at division as ‘sharing equally’ and yesterday, the students loved planning out how we could make lolly bags with a certain number of different lollies.

As part of the Resilience Project, we have had a big focus on Emotional Literacy. We have unpacked the different emotions we might feel in different situations and matched these to our zones of regulation. We also explored different strategies we could use to regulate our emotions and ensure we are responding to situations in an appropriate way. Students have been extremely engaged in this unit. We have seen so much improvement in how they are tackling challenges and persisting in their learning even if they are feeling frustrated.
