Assistant Principal's Report

Cooking Class

At the end of the last term, we had a very excited group of students cash in 50 Spark Bucks to participate in our Spark Buck cooking class! They had a wonderful time making choc chip cookies!

Why not engage in a conversation with your child and ask what they are saving their spark bucks up to buy?

Upcoming Events

We have some exciting events coming up throughout the term.

Myuna Farm
Next week on Tuesday the 11th of October, we have all of our prep students heading off to Myuna Farm. They will be participating in a range of experiences on the farm, including the farm show, exploring the animal nursery, having a train ride to the wetlands and feeding animals in the paddocks. Please check your Compass events for further information and ensure you have paid and provided consent for your child to attend.

Grade 2 Sleepover
We are looking to run our first Year 2 sleepover in week seven on Thursday the 17th of September. Throughout the day, the Year 1 and Year 2 students will be engaging in various activities. Students will go home at the end of the school day as per normal. The Year 2 students will return later in the evening for a sleepover. This event aims to replicate a mini camp-like experience to prepare our students for the longer camps they will attend in future years. More information about this event will be posted to Compass in the coming weeks.

Cardinia Shire Council - Upcoming Road Works

Cardinia Shire Council are set to commence upgrade works to the Timbertop Boulevard and Pink Hill Boulevard intersection from October 2022, with works expected to be completed in January 2023.

These works will include the installation of signals at the existing Timbertop and Pink Hill Boulevards intersection, a dedicated bike lane along Timbertop Blvd and the construction and extension of the intersection’s turning lanes. The median crossing at Barnsley Road will be permanently closed as part of the works.

The parking bays and allocated school drop-off and pick-up bays located on Pink Hill Blvd will be unaffected and remain accessible throughout construction. The works will only affect two parking spots along Timbertop Blvd, which are located away from Orchard Park Primary School.

Please understand that some temporary inconvenience may be experienced during this time but the Council will also be working to mitigate any impacts from the road works as much as possible and will keep the local community updated about the progress of the works.

Cardinia Shire Council will be holding a community information session on Tuesday 27 September between 5pm-7pm at the Cardinia Shire Council Civic Centre located at 20 Siding Avenue, Officer. Project Officers will be available to provide additional information and answer any questions related to the works.

For more information, please phone Cardinia Shire Council on 1300 787 624, visit www.cardinia.vic.gov.au/betterlocalroads, email mail@cardinia.vic.gov.au or attend the in-person community information session.
