Principal's Report

Welcome Back

It was great to see all of our students return to school with such confidence and enthusiasm at the beginning of the week. It has been a very smooth, yet busy start to the term with our Senior School students on camp and all of our other students getting straight into the learning routines back at school.

Professional Practice Day - No students required at school

Our final Professional Practice Day for the year will take place on Monday 31st October. Students are not required at school on this day. Staff will be at school further developing their understanding and capacity to implement our integrated learning approaches within the curriculum. Full day care arrangements will be available through OSHC on this day.

Footy Day - Last Day of Term

It was wonderful to have the support of our Parents and Friends Group in running our hot dog lunch for our Footy Day. The students and staff all looked fabulous in their footy colours from AFL, rugby, soccer and other sports teams as we conducted our parade in the gymnasium with all of the theme songs playing in the background. Congratulations to all of our Geelong and Penrith supporters, with their teams winning their respective grand finals over the holidays.

Year 5/6 Camp

I had the privilege of attending the first 2 nights of camp with our Senior School this week. As you may have seen from our Facebook posts, it has been a week packed full of rich experiences for our students. My highlight was definitely watching our students show such resilience in trying new things such as ice skating and also adapting and learning how to move about the city using public transport.  I am so proud of the way our students have represented our school whilst on camp. Stay tuned to our next newsletter edition where there will be some firsthand pieces from our students sharing their favourite moments from the camp. A huge thank you to the staff who made this camp possible in Kim Collis, Sam Lehman, Jane Knight, Amy Ferguson and Dean Scanlon. We are also extremely grateful for the following people who volunteered their time to support our camp in Mark Arnold, Jason Gorringe, Laura Mills and Beth Martin. Without all of their support, commitment and energy, the camp would not have been the success it was for our students.

Exciting announcement!!

As some of you may have already heard, we have just received some incredible news about a successful grant application through the Inclusive Schools Fund. Through this fund, we will receive $190,450 for an Inclusive playground at our school. This will be a welcomed addition for all future students at Orchard Park Primary School to access, explore and enjoy. As this process begins, I will keep our school community up to date with the progress of this very exciting project in the coming newsletters.
