Principal Report

After the last two years of conducting our Dads’ Day Breakfast online it was terrific to be face to face at school again.
At the beginning of the day I decided to stand at the front gate and watch as the dads walked their children into school. It was absolutely fantastic seeing the smiling faces and pride and feeling the buzz on the morning.
On entering the gym it was great to see our dads calmly entering, giving way to each other and just being respectful. It’s no wonder that our students move around the school so well and behave when they have role models like our dads.
Our guest speaker Damien Fleming was sensational. From the feedback received on the morning, his presentation was engaging and humorous. I personally enjoyed listening to his career highlights, his little anecdotes on Australian and opposition players and then his interactions with his own children.
I also had the opportunity to visit a few classes. Seeing dads interacting with their children in their grades was sensational: making things and playing games, it was all top notch.
Well done everyone that came back to the gym at recess. Once again our ES staff at Oatlands did a wonderful job cooking over 500 muffins that looked like they were going down really well with a cuppa. A special thanks to everyone that purchased raffle tickets; $508 was raised and will be directed to purchasing sports equipment for the school.
Thankyou everyone for coming and I hope you all gained positives out of this event. We look forward to seeing you all next year.
It was also wonderful to be able to hold our Grandparents afternoon as well.
We in the Principal Team had the pleasure in supervising and escorting grandparents to their grandchildren’s classrooms.
The turn-out was amazing! It seemed to be a never-ending procession of people who appeared to be very pleased to be at Oatlands visiting.
The feedback we received at the end of the day was very positive from both the grandparents in attendance and our students. It was fantastic witnessing the love and respect displayed by both parties.
Overall it was fantastic to get back to two historically great events and hopefully this will continue without any further disruptions.
