Acting Principal's

Report

Mr Lockhart

It’s a busy time currently at Wedderburn College. On Monday 22 August we have the re-scheduled House Athletics Carnival, go Ansett! This is closely followed by the Interschool Athletic Competitions which will take place at the end of Week 7.  Also in Week 7 is Book Week. The highlight for the week will be on Tuesday 23 August, Period 2 at 11.20am when we have our Book Week Parade – remember to get dressed up. Parents and Carers are welcome to attend. To complicate things further we have our School Review Fieldwork Days on Wednesday 24 and Thursday 25 August, this will give our school clear direction and focus for the next four years.

House Athletics - Monday 22 August

Ansett won the Swimming, Jacka won the Cross Country……who will win the Athletics and have the honor of winning the Sporting Aggregate for 2022? Remember our SWPBS expected behaviours from our matrix are ‘I will participate’ and ‘I will keep trying’. Therefore, to help your house win, you need to attend dressed in the most magnificent house colours, participate in as many events as possible and keep trying your hardest.  Every event you go in means points for your house, most points wins…. simple isn’t it!

Prizes to be won……

  1. Prize A– any homeroom that has 100% attendance to our athletics carnival will receive a free whole class lunch at our new College Café.
  2. Prize B – any homeroom that has 100% participation, (students participate in at least one event) will receive a free whole class lunch at our College Café. Attendance level must be acceptable – above 85%.
  3. Prize C – we have 22 College Café Vouchers to the value of $5 and $10. Each homeroom will be allocated two vouchers to award to the best dressed students in that homeroom.  Your homeroom teacher will decide; get thinking, get organised and get dressed up!

Think about it……if everybody in your homeroom attends, if everybody in your homeroom participates and you are the best dressed, you could be eating from our new College Café for ever! Imagine all the hedgehogs you could eat! Wow Wee! Mr Forrest is going down…………..Go Ansett!!!!!

Athletics Day – still on at this stage!

At this stage our Athletics Carnival is still on, however, rain has been forecast for Monday.  Regardless of whether the Athletics Carnival runs on Monday, we will still have our BBQ lunch, as we need to defrost the meat over the weekend that was frozen from our first Athletics Carnival cancellation. Can students also be prepared on Monday for both athletics and a normal school day.

Opinion Survey

The Parent/Caregiver/Guardian Opinion Survey – Now Open

Our school is conducting a survey to find out what parents/caregivers/guardians think of our school. The Parent/Caregiver/Guardian Opinion Survey is an annual survey offered by the Department of Education and Training that is designed to assist schools in gaining an understanding of families’ perceptions of school climate, student behavior, and student engagement. We encourage all families to participate in this survey. Our school will use the survey results to help inform and direct future school planning and improvement strategies.

The Parent/Caregiver/Guardian Opinion Survey will be conducted from Monday 15th August to Friday 16th September.

The survey will be conducted online, only takes 20 minutes to complete, and can be accessed at any convenient time within the fieldwork period on desktop computers, laptops, tablets or smartphones.
