The highlight from this week has been and wonderful excitement of our Year 3 and 4 students and staff who headed off to camp on Wednesday. The preparation and planning to ensure every student has their needs met and to ensure a rewarding and enjoyable time is had by all, has been outstanding.

During the week, we have also had many of our Junior students completing their final information reports from their science units of work. I am so impressed by the standard and content of the booklets each of the students has created. Many of the year 1 students shared their learning with me this week, including reading their reports and noting some of the special features of the mini-beasts they have chose to investigate. What a wonderful piece of learning and literacy extension opportunity for these young students.

WE WANT OUR PARENTS/CAREGIVERS/GUARDIANS TO TELL US WHAT THEY THINK!

Our school is conducting a survey to find out what parents/caregivers/guardians think of our school. The Parent/Caregiver/Guardian Opinion Survey is an annual survey offered by the Department of Education and Training that is designed to assist schools in gaining an understanding of families’ perceptions of school climate, student behavior, and student engagement. We encourage all families to participate in this survey. Our school will use the survey results to help inform and direct future school planning and improvement strategies.

While previously a random sample of approximately 30 per cent of parents/caregivers/guardians have been selected to participate, this year, all families are invited to participate in the survey.

The Parent/Caregiver/Guardian Opinion Survey will be conducted from Monday 15th August to Friday 16th September.

The survey will be conducted online, only takes 20 minutes to complete, and can be accessed at any convenient time within the fieldwork period on desktop computers, laptops, tablets or smartphones. The online survey will be available in a range of languages other than English. These include: Arabic, Vietnamese, Simplified Chinese, Chin (Hakha), Hindi, Japanese, Somali, Turkish, Punjabi and Greek. Last year we used the survey results to develop our Annual Implementation Plan with a focus on regular and easily accessible home/school communication. This has resulted in innovations including our ‘interactive’ newsletter approach being trialled this year.

We are eager to have as many families as possible taking part in the survey-every family matters and we are eager to hear a ‘voice’ from every parent/carer in the school!
