National Child Protection Week

4 -10 September 2022

Every child, in every community, needs a fair go. To treat all of Australia’s children fairly, we need to make sure every family and community has what kids need to thrive and be healthy.

Bright Colours Dress-up Day

TOMORROW - Friday 9th September - students are encouraged to wear bright, colourful clothing and accessories to promote and highlight the idea "A bright future for all students".  No gold coin donation is required for this event.

"Shine-a-Light Birds" - Whole-school, Cross-level Activity

On Monday, all students in the school worked in groups with students from other years levels to create "Shine-a-Light Birds" - a craft activity that involved colouring, folding and cutting.  The "Shine-a-Light Bird" activity comes from the following idea, which is the key message for Child Protection Week:

Birds travel in flocks; flocks are like a community –

they all work together to keep the flock safe.

In our community, we must all work together to keep our children safe.

The birds are all going to be displayed together in the entrance foyer of the school once they are completed.

Art Activity For Home

The National Association for Prevention of Child Abuse and Neglect (NAPCAN) are running an art activity for students to complete at home to highlight National Child Protection Week 2022.  They are looking for artworks to show what children and young people think about their neighbourhoods. They would like to get children thinking about all aspects of their neighbourhood and what is important for all families. These artworks will then be used in their campaign (on their website and social media) to help show that protecting children is about working together as a community.

They would love to see collaborative artworks but are also happy for children to do individual artworks if they prefer.  Students can draw or paint their artwork on A3 paper or larger.  Then a photo of the art needs to be submitted to the NAPCAN website.  use the link below to find out more and to submit any student artwork.
