Kids Corner

The “Kids’ Corner” section of our school newsletter provides the opportunity for the children to showcase their talents or communicate something special. This fortnight I have taken the opportunity to share:
- A poem from Chris (4A)
This is a poem about the Aboriginal struggles during the British invasion. As I was writing this, I felt their pain as if I was witnessing all this along with them. Special thanks to Ms Marotti for teaching me poetry.
ALONE:
My family was taken
I was all alone
I looked at the sun setting down in the horizon.
I hid in mud from the British
It was a cold feeling up my back
It was like nature blending with my surroundings.
I shivered with fear
I was trembling
I couldn’t stand
I couldn’t crouch.
My heart shattered when my family was taken away
But I knew I had to go
Anger and sadness started gushing through me
But I kept holding my emotions as strong as I could
Nothing was fair
My family were treated as slaves
Beaten up and no food at all
I couldn’t believe this
Nothing was fair!
