Dear Members of the Glen Waverley Primary School Community,
I trust all is well with you and your family and welcome to another newsletter where so much is shared about our fabulous school.
As per usual, if you have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact me on 9802 9938 or via email at frank.catalano@education.vic.gov.au.
Novel Coronavirus Update
It is very pleasing to note that the number of confirmed cases throughout our school has continued to remain quite low with reported cases spread across the year levels. Naturally this is a result of everyone being vigilant by ensuring the children aged 8 and over wear face masks, remain at home if they are feeling unwell and also utilising the Rapid Antigen Tests (RAT’s). Once again, thank you everyone for the manner in which the entire GWPS community have supported one another.
Facilities Update
As a proactive and socially responsible organisation, it is extremely important that we continue to develop our school’s facilities whilst also being conscious of our environmental footprint. Some of the projects which will be completed shortly include:
- Solar panels – I am thrilled that our school is now in a position to install solar panels as a means of reducing our electrical usage and also demonstrating to the children the importance we place on this issue. The panels will be placed on the gymnasium roof, and we are expecting that they will reduce our electricity usage by 50%
- Will be installed adjacent to the gymnasium with the water collected from the gym roof being used to flush the bathrooms in this facility and
- Adjacent to the OSHC building where the water captured will also be used to flush the bathrooms
- School Uniform display cabinet – as a means of providing families with the opportunity to view our school uniform range, we are in the process of installing a display cabinet near the uniform shop.
Naturally the above are exciting projects which will benefit our school immensely. I look forward to sharing additional photos in due course.
Congratulations to Arena
Arena (Year 5) is an avid golfer who last month gained international experience by competing in a 3 day Golfing tournament in Vietnam. Arena competed against 10 other golfers in the Vietnam Junior Open and achieved second place. Well done Arena, we are very proud of your success and look forward to hearing how your golf career goes from here!
Congratulations to Hirun
Hirun (Year 5) loves athletics and this year he has worked exceptionally hard across many disciplines. His efforts were recently rewarded when he received a very prestigious award from the Knoxfield Little Athletics Club for achieving the ‘club record season’.
Wow, Hirun this is an amazing achievement and something that you should be incredibly proud of - well done, keep it up as we are all very, very proud of you too!
