Principal's Message

By Jenny Hassett

Welcome Back

We welcome back our Grade Preps, Grade 1's and Grade 2's to onsite learning. Unfortunately, our 3-6 students will need to wait till next week to come back onsite. Grade 3 and 4 will be able to attend school on Tuesday and Wednesday next week and Grade 5 and 6 next Thursday and Friday- not ideal but it is what we have been directed to do.

Grade 3 and 4 (Batesford students ) will attend the Batesford campus on both days.

On all other days students from Grades 3-6 should be working online with their teachers. Please keep checking COMPASS as I will continue to put regular updates on this communication app.

New Staff

We are pleased to announce that we have 3 new staff members - Linda Dragicevic, Owen Dunipace and Meagan Callaghan starting at Rollins this term. Linda will be working with our Prep students, Owen replacing Monique Dumont who is taking Maternity Leave and  Meagan will replace Sandy in the office while she is on 12 months leave. Welcome to  Rollins. I  know that everyone will make them most welcome in our community.

Icy Poles

It's that time again- icy poles will now be on sale on Tuesdays and Thursdays in term 4. They will be $1 each and the profits will go to beautifying our school grounds.

Hats

Just a reminder that hats are compulsory in Term 4. As COVID has turned our lives upside down I ask that all students have a broad brimmed hat by Tuesday 26th October (the day all students from Grade Prep to Grade 6 are all back on site at the one time). Parents can order online and the uniforms will be delivered to the school). Please check out the Rollins website for details.

2022 Placement

At Rollins, we work thoughtfully to build future class groupings. Teachers work together (literally for hours) forming classes for the coming year. They consider student learning styles, behaviour needs, student personalities, gender (even numbers of boys and girls) and many other factors to create classrooms where students will work well together and with their teacher. It is a complex process. Our goal is always to create the most balanced classes possible.

Parents are invited to advise us of any considerations that they would like us to take into account for student placement in 2022. If you would like to take this opportunity, I ask that you provide your thoughts in writing to me, no later than Friday 22nd October 2021.  Unfortunately, we are unable to consider requests after this date. Please note we cannot meet requests for specific teachers and, although we try our best to meet all requests, we cannot give guarantees.

As always, please feel free to reach out to me if you have any questions or concerns.

World Teachers' Day

Australia will celebrate and thank the teaching profession on World Teachers’ Day on Friday 29 October 2021.

Teachers (with support from parents and carers) have ensured education continues across the country this year, despite major challenges. It’s reinforced the significant role teachers play in the lives of children and students, their families, and communities.

We are very fortunate to have such amazing staff at Rollins who have guide our young people through some very difficult times over the last couple of years.

On Friday 29 October, you can say a big thank you to teachers by posting a photo in your sunglasses on Twitter or Facebook, either on your own or with family or friends. Use these tags: #BrightFuture @aitsl
