Selamat siang!

What an exciting time to be in 3/4! It was so lovely to reunite as a class and get to see all the familiar faces of our lovely students in real life last week! The teachers were blown away with the incredible adjustments the students made returning to the classroom Tuesday and Wednesday, and participating in Remote Learning Monday, Thursday and Friday. While this week is only a short week, we look forward to settling back into the routines of onsite learning at MPRPS and reflecting on our time during these past few months.

During Literacy sessions last week, students used their brainstorms and notes compiled during Remote Learning to plan the structure of their speeches and begin writing. We have seen such a variety of ideas ranging from bike riding to cooking to travelling - we look forward to hearing these speeches come together over the coming week with personal pronouns, evidence and emotive language. We have also enjoyed engaging in a variety of text types during our reading sessions, investigating the structure of fact files and listening to texts using podcasts and practising our note taking skills while listening.

Last week in Mathematics, we practised identifying fractions in the world around us by going on a ‘fraction hunt’ around the senior playground. Students also practised drawing and labelling the features of 3D objects, demonstrated their knowledge and understanding of fractions and hefted and weighed the mass of items located around the house.

Upon our return to the classroom we have participated in reflective circle times, team building activities and wellbeing tasks to check in with our emotions and take the time to recognise the challenges and successes we have faced in Term 3 and 4. One of our focuses has been around identifying ‘Mini Joys’ within our lives, which are small little moments that we are grateful for or that make us happy. Our Mini Joys could be something as simple as “I had a delicious apple at recess today”. You might like to discuss some of the Mini Joys your family had over this past weekend and think about what makes you smile.

We hope you have a lovely week,

Mr Dix, Miss Gasowski, Mrs McCoy, Miss Molloy, Mr O’Connor and Miss Richardson :)
