COLLEGE CAPTAINS 2022

2022 COLLEGE CAPTAINS

Leadership is an important part of student learning at St Joseph’s College. Those of us who work at the college are regularly impressed by the quality of student leaders we are fortunate enough to have. We would like to commend and affirm all the students who applied for 2022 College Captain roles. You all showed courage and strength, and we thank you for the privilege of meeting and talking with you.

For 2022…

We are pleased to announce Maria Petrolo and Oliver Sharman as the College Captains.

I would also like to congratulate Jemma Fanshaw and Joshua Zudetich on their appointment as the College Vice Captains.

These fine young men and women understand that to be a leader one should create positive and substantial change in small, everyday ways. In 2022, they will have the opportunity to prove that the concept of true leadership is inspired by integrity of heart, faith and accountable, responsible stewardship.

Congratulations and well done Maria and Oliver, Jemma and Joshua, we are very proud of you. Thank you to all those who have assisted and inspired you on your journey to this point in time.

‘I feel that teamwork and collaboration are essential skills for a leader.  Taking on the role of a captain is not an independent role, it is predicated by devotion to a cohort. Leadership is all about teamwork, without it, success is unachievable. I hold in high regard the core values of our college, especially compassion and community; these morals are vital in creating an inclusive, accepting, and friendly school environment where everyone is able to feel included and welcomed.’

'I have a very strong school spirit and have always involved myself fully in the school community, attending and participating in school events and activities over the years. I am a supportive person who cares about your opinion and respects every person’s opinion in the school. I have a fair attitude towards all. I will continue to represent St Joseph’s College with pride and to the best of my ability. I will continue to uphold the core values of the college in all that I do.’

‘As we are a Catholic school, it is our belief that “we are all equally made in God’s image”.  The Bible teaches that humanity is both diverse and equal. Together, I believe that our school community can ensure that no student who attends this school feels excluded on any basis.’
