Tornado fundraiser
Congratulations to Year 8 on the successful fundraiser they organised in Week 4 to assist school families affected by the recent tornado.
Over $1200 was raised through mufti-fines, BBQ'd sausage sandwiches for lunch, and collection jars for loose change donations! Thank you to everyone at ASC for supporting this wonderful effort.
We also appreciate the generous donations from Moxons Bakery and Jackson's Quality Meats for supplies on the day.

Environmental Focus Group
Early this year the newly created ASC Environmental Focus Group (EFG) purchased more than 10 yellow-top wheelie bins to collect bottles, cans, poppers and milk containers throughout the school. Every Friday, the group bundled up contents and processed them through the NSW Return and Earn Scheme.
To date, the EFG has recycled over 12,000 bottles, cans, poppers and cartons! This massive achievement has resulted in raising over $1200 ..... as well as having a cleaner and litter-free school!
Its time to thank the 2021 Year 12 students who have successfully developed the EFG's agenda during this past year. Its pleasing to see our Year 11 students becoming involved to fill the gap of the departing Year 12 students. The group is also keen to encourage participation from other younger year groups.
DIY Thursdays
We have been facilitating lunchtime sessions as part of our Learning and Support Team wellbeing program. We've had overwhelming support from our students, who have been connecting with peers in safe and constructive lunchtime hands-on activities.
This term we are working on gifts. We have started our jute-wrapped mason jars which will be homes for little succulents. We appreciate the generosity of Sam and Josh from New England Pest Management, who have donated the succulents for these projects.
Later this term we'll be making organic bees wax and coconut oil lip balms, flavoured with vanilla essence and other delish scents. We'll also be making cards and gift bags to hold our little gifts.
Join us every Thursday lunchtime in C104!

Life in the library
One lunch-time last week, Yusra Mhe (Year 10) came to the Library asking for a hole-puncher to organise her class notebooks. We had to rely on the expertise of Mr Horneman to demonstrate how to use our very large and old-fashioned screw-down punch!
Thankfully, Asia Muhi (Year 10) was also there and offered to share her skills and assist in assembling the new trolley purchased to deliver textbooks to neighbourhoods. Asia says her adeptness with tools comes from her father who enjoys working on cars.
Thanks to all involved ... learning at school takes place in many different shapes and forms!
