Get Caught Reading

Our Get Caught Reading programme has been going full-steam this term. All Year 7 classes are required to read for the first 20 minutes of Period 3 every day. Students have been assisted in selecting a book appropriate to their interests and reading level. At the completion of each book, an Accelerated Reader quiz is taken to monitor comprehension and progress. 

We believe in encouraging a culture of reading throughout the school to promote the literacy skills of all students.  With this goal, teachers are also providing opportunities for students from other years to sit and read. For example, the photos below include Ms Armstrong's Year 8 and Year 10 History classes. 

The benefits of reading to improve literacy levels are expected to be reflected in greater engagement and successful learning across all areas.
