Seniors Traditions - Graduate Speeches

Year 7 Traditions - Graduate Speeches

Way back in 2009, we began multiple initiatives, which have since become Lockleys North traditions.  Amongst many things they include collaborative teaching and learning, flexible learning spaces, High Flyers as a portfolio of evidence of possessing graduate qualities and our Senior Graduate Speeches.

For our senior students to be able to stand before audiences that can number 600 at times and reflect upon their 8 years of primary schooling, it is both a challenge and right of passage. Family members and R-7 staff alike frequently take great pride in the exhibition of maturity, bravery and depth of thought by our students.

For those of you who do not have the opportunity to attend our assemblies, we’d like to share an example of a Lockleys North Graduate Speech. Lila Daniels is one of our 2021 graduates and her speech is an outstanding example of the powerful learners we are all working to support.

Good afternoon parents, staff, students and everyone watching on facebook live. I am Lila Daniels and I am one of the 89 graduates for 2021. I am in F13 with my teacher Miss Moore. I live in a family of five including my mum, dad and my two older sisters Eden who is in year 8 and Charlotte who is in year 10 at Immanuel College which is where I will be going next year. And you can’t forget my dog Archie!

Some of my hobbies include playing netball for Matrix netball club, hanging with friends, and swimming. I also love traveling and going on holidays with my family especially in summer.  When I am older I would love to do something that involves netball or interior and exterior designing.

Some of my favourite subjects include Maths and German. Maths because it is always fun and we always learn something new. I even learnt in Maths that Sophia hates sharing her popcorn! German because Frau Chesterman always finds a way to make learning fun and it gets really competitive!

Some contributions that I have made to this school have been chair crew in term 1, loose parts monitor in term 3 and soft plastics monitor in Term 4. As well as all the netball clinics that Taylor, Isla and I have run.

Some of the highlights of my time at LNPS have been the Knockout Netball, Knockout soccer and the Footy carnivals that I have competed in. All the Sports Days have been so amazing and I am excited to be a Brian Vice Captain and hopefully lead Brian to victory and have heaps of fun for my last sports day. You can’t forget about all the camps that I have been on from my first camp to Woodhouse to our last camp to the York Peninsula. They have all been so fun! Lastly, all the community nights that I have been a part of, especially this year dancing with Isla, Taylor and Declan - our dance was so good!

I would not be here today if it wasn't for my amazing friends. Some of them include Sophia, Poppi, Kristen, Allezara, Sienna, Isla and Taylor. Isla has definitely left her mark with all the bruises I have from her! Also a huge thank you to my family for always being there, especially my sister Eden who can make me laugh and give me great advice even though she usually ends up getting mad at me because the volleyball went in the pool. Charlotte who helps me when I need it  and thanks to mum and dad for helping me become the person I am today.

Some teachers that have influenced me throughout my years at Lockleys North have been Ms Saxon and Ms Byrnes who welcomed me to Lockleys North From the very first day, Mr Smith and Ms Barker for helping me become more confident and have fun with my learning and of course Ms Moore for making my last year at Lockleys North a great year and very memorable.

So now it’s my time to give advice for future graduates: my advice is to make your work fun and enjoy it but still finish your work on time so you don’t miss out on fitness on Friday!

Thanks for listening!
