Foundation News

It’s hard to believe we are in Week 4 of Term Four! Two weeks of remote learning, two weeks of being at school, three days and next week we are back full time. Our parents all deserve extra PRAISE for trying their personal best to learn new things, for successfully creating educational experiences in the safety of their home and for juggling everything else going on around them!

Rehearsals are in full swing for our School Dance Production ‘Oatlands Celebrates 25 Years!' The Preps are working hard in their sport sessions to learn the steps to their class dance. Extra practices will be added at recess and lunch to make sure they perform at their very best on the day.

The proposed dates for the School Production are dress rehearsal on Monday 29th November and filming of the Dance Performance on Tuesday 30th November. There will be more details on this soon, as well as a note outlining what your child needs to wear for their performance. Make sure to keep checking your Seesaw and Compass for updates.

Over the past two weeks we have been lucky enough to have two sessions in the kitchen with Rose. We made gingerbread kids and bat brownies for Halloween. There were lots of smiles, laughter, mixing, rolling, baking and decorating. A great way to bond and do things together as a class again!

In literacy, we have covered graphs and digraphs in our SMART spelling lessons and now we are moving onto trigraphs. Our first trigraph is ‘tch’ as in watch. We have continued structuring our stories with a beginning, middle and end before we write them, and using all our reading strategies to improve our reading.

In Maths, we have been collecting data and making graphs, consolidating addition and subtraction skills and revising sharing and looking at probability and time. It really is a great term to see how far the Preps have come and how much they have learnt!

Thanks again for doing all the extra things to help us make learning FUN…
