We acknowledge that Catholic schools in the Archdiocese of Melbourne are situated on the lands of the five language groups that make up the Kulin Nations, who have walked upon and cared for this land for thousands of years.
We pay respects to their Elders past, present and future, and commit to the ongoing journey of reconciliation.
Welcome to this edition of our newsletter.
Feel free to join us on Friday (10th) for whole school Mass at 9.15am here at St Joseph's.
Please join us on Friday 18th as a community for a sausage sizzle and a soft drink after school (3.30pm - 4.30pm). It may be a good time to digest the viability news together which we are expecting by the end of the week.
First Communion Parent / child Information evening will be 5pm - 5.40pm on Wednesday 23rd August here at school (Year 4).
We welcome Gai Cooke back into Year 3 after her long service leave. We also welcome Angus (pre-service teacher) into our Junior level who will be working with Miss Wood and our juniors for the rest of Term 3.
We also farewelled Emma Cristiano last week who was one of our LSOs working mainly with the Year 5/6 class. Emma made a great impact with us this year and we wish her all the very best for her new role at St Finbars.
Maths Competition

Nash, Michael, Ava and Rose represented St Joseph's recently as they teamed up against another 20 schools in a fun Maths competition hosted at St Patricks. Thanks to Chris Kelliher for organising this great day.
Year 3 demonstrated their creativity and artistic talents last week as they invited the whole school to their impromptu Art Soiree!
And we were so impressed. A lovely end to the week with Miss O'Grady and some wonderful art work to put above the mantle piece!
'Science Week' is next week and we will be having an extra focus as a whole school around science in our lives. On Friday 18th August each class will rotate through 4 science based activities. Each class teacher will prepare a different science experience for the children.
The following week is 'Book Week' and we will be celebrating and sharing this years award winning authors. The theme is Read, Grow, Inspire.
Our kids love a dress up!
We will be holding a Book Parade on Friday 25th August (9am - 10am) so please have a think about characters or themes from books and stories. Feel free to costume up and join us
We will send details via Operoo and Seesaw.
We welcome all our grandparents and special friends to celebrate this day at St Joseph's. Please come along and spend time with our students and staff for a celebration of the wonderful and wise people in our lives.

We await the decision of the MACS Board and the Arch Bishop by the 18th of August as to what they recommend regarding the future of our school.
Athletics is on 1st September and we will be preparing for the events in PE and sport lessons at school.
This will be on Friday morning Sept 1st and will be in the school hall. More to come nearer the time.
