R.E. NEWS

Confirmation

The Enrolment Mass will be held on Saturday 5th August at 5.30pm. It is a Parish requirement that all candidates enrol for the Sacrament. Please bring your enrolment card and see the teachers before heading in to Mass.

Mini Vinnies

Students from our Mini Vinnies group collected a bumper crop from our school orchard this week! Oranges, mandarins and lemons were collected and presented to Father Paul to use in Hope Kitchen. In this month of August, our Mini Vinnies group are focusing on service and spreading kindness. The group meet each week in their own morning tea time and loved being outside this week to pick the fruit to help others in our community.

Mary of the Cross MacKillop

Students will celebrate the Feast of St. Mary of the Cross MacKillop on Tuesday the 8th of August, gathering as a whole school for Mass at 10am.

St. Mary of the Cross MacKillop is  Australia’s first Saint. Mary MacKillop became known as St. Mary of the Cross when Pope Benedict XVI canonised her in 2010. She was a Catholic nun who, together with Father Julian Tenison Woods, founded the Sisters of St Joseph of the Sacred Heart. St Mary of the Cross and Fr Woods opened their first school in Penola, South Australia. From there, they founded other schools for children who were poor, especially in country areas. They taught about God’s love and being faithful to the Gospels.

LIBRARY NEWS

Premier's Reading Challenge

Many students and their families nominated to complete the Premier's Reading Challenge this year. Please be aware that time is quickly getting away for this year. We are steadily working towards completing the Kinder, Year 1 and Year 2 challenge with library and literacy lessons, but students working on this independently with families from K-6 need to keep going!

The closing date is Friday 18th August.

Book Week Parade

Book Week falls in Week 6 this term. The theme this year is "Read, Grow Inspire". We have some great activities planned in the Library over the next 6 weeks.

Dates have been locked in for this year's 2023 Book Week Parade. We invite students to dress up as their favourite book character and participate in our parade to celebrate.

Infants - Thursday 24th August

Primary - Friday 25th August

More details to follow.

Early Bird Reading Club
