Principal Reflections

From the Principals - Alison & Pete

Dear Parents, Carers and Friends,

Thank you to all the families that supported Grandparents’ Day last Friday. It was great to see so many people spend some time with their grandchildren in prayer and then in the sunshine for a picnic lunch. There is something special about this day. Many thanks to Sally Clarke for her organisation and preparation of the day.

Thank you to all the parents and grandparents who attended our Family Mass last Sunday. It was a lovely Mass and a wonderful way to conclude a special week. Thank you to Father Paul for celebrating Mass and making it special.

In addition to celebrating Grandparents on Friday we were very fortunate to be blessed with great weather for our school Athletics Carnival on Thursday last week. This annual event is always one that our school community looks forward to. A big thank you to Natasha Gippel for her excellent work in making this day so memorable and happy for all those who competed. Also thanks to our wonderful P and F Committee for their assistance with the BBQ and ensuring that our staff were well looked after with refreshments throughout the day.

Principals' Conference

Next week we will have the opportunity to gather with other Principals in the Diocese as well as staff from the Catholic Schools Office for the Term 3 Principals' Conference. This year the conference will focus on key issues facing Principals and their approach to Leadership.  We look forward to engaging in professional dialogue and collaboration with our colleagues and building our capacity as instructional leaders.

Living Well, Learning Well

St Edward's School has a continuous focus on how we can support our students to be the 'best versions of themselves'. At our staff meeting this week we invited Mr Rod Whelan, the Principal of McCarthy Catholic College, to come into the school and facilitate a session with staff on the Living Well, Learning Well Framework. Key points discussed were the importance of our students feeling connected with the school as well as the importance of our staff using a coherent consistent language when supporting their students. We would like to thank Rod for coming into our school and sharing his exceptional expertise in this area.

Our staff are always available to help and support our school community. If we can be of any assistance please reach out.

Until then,

Keep Smiling,

Alison Hatton and Pete Flynn
