ALUMNI & CAREERS
Term 1
There has been lots happening in the Careers & Pathways space so far this term. Year 10 student have enjoyed a Uni Myths Busted session where Mentors from Deakin University (MODs) visited the school to discuss aspects of Uni life, finished off with a highly competitive game of Jeopardy. Year 11 students spent a day at Deakin, Waurn Ponds campus and participated in various workshops that focussed on study skills, planning for the future, pathways, surviving and thriving and managing finances. Year 12 students have been busy finalising their course preferences and completing VTAC applications. Finally, a keen group of students from years 9 - 12 were lucky enough to attend a presentation from the Defence Forces Recruiting Team to learn about trades, specialised pathways, the application process and the 300+ job opportunities within the Australian Defence Forces. Congratulations to all students for embracing the pathway & career development opportunities that are being offered and taking steps to navigate their future.

Career News:
Open Day at Fed is just over two weeks away! We’d like to invite you, your students and school community to explore what going to Fed Uni or Fed TAFE could mean at Federation’s Open Day on Sunday 13 August from 10:00am - 2:00pm. Can you please share this with your school community?
Sure, there’ll be the usual free food, entertainment, campus tours, and the chance to explore a dream course, but at Federation’s Open Day we want to show what going to Fed is really like.
We want to show how, in collaboration with industry and our local community, we’re on this journey with our students from day one to graduation and beyond.
So please encourage your students to visit us on Open Day and explore what going to uni or TAFE at Fed means.
To plan Open Day and make the most of their time, visitors can register to receive information and a program of events for their preferred campus.

Expressions of interest to complete a work experience placement at the Parliament of Victoria in terms 1 and 2, 2024 are now open. Please encourage interested students to visit our website and lodge an expression of interest via the online link: https://new.parliament.vic.gov.au/teach-and-learn/work-experience/
Students can choose between two programs, Sitting and Services, and placements are open to students in Victorian schools who are residents of Victoria, and are 15 years or over at the time of the placement.
Parliamentary Sitting placements provide the opportunity to see the law-making process up close. Students will go behind the scenes with the staff who directly support Parliament sittings, to get a deeper understanding of our democratic processes.
Parliamentary Services placements offer a variety of opportunities that can be matched with a broad range of student interests and career goals, including business management, facilities management and maintenance, community engagement and broadcasting, and hospitality.
