KIDSVIEW CONFERENCE

On Monday the 7th the Mini Vinnies from 5/6 and some of our Captains went to Saint Luke’s in Wantirna to participate in a KidsView Conference.  We met some amazing people that work for Bahay Tuluyan, Abi, Clang and Catherine. All work for Bahay Tuluyan, which is an education centre for children in the Philippines that are very poor.  They shared stories about the Philippines and taught us not to take things for granted. We also learnt about the environment and the meaning and importance of all of the resources we use. Catherine demonstrated what the resources we use are and how valued they are.  It was really interesting learning about the ways people in the Philippines. One of the stories they told us was about how they couldn't afford school uniforms so they had to go inside the school, take off their uniform and throw it over the wall so the other students could come inside the school.

School was very important to them because education helped them to find a good job to support their family. Each child at the event received a new identity card which showed us the lifestyle of that person we had to think about what their life would be like. We realised that we are very privileged to be a part of this school and community.

Thank you Abby, Clang and Catherine for teaching us the importance of life and how fortunate we are.
