Year 11 Business Management Market Day Briefing

On Thursday 20 July, VCE Business Management Units 1/2 students attended a briefing on Market Day. The Market day project is a project that runs over the course of 7 weeks. In this project we will apply all our knowledge of establishing and operating a business. We will be forming groups of 2-5 students and working together to pick a good or service to sell, market that product to the school's staff and students and finally open a stall and operate our businesses on the 5th of September. At the briefing, Mr Sacco, our teacher, Josh and Ms Vanstan introduced us to the fundamentals of the project and our health and safety responsibilities. We will also be be going on excursions to Fountain Gate shopping centre, South Melbourne and Queen Victoria markets as a part of market research. Through these excursions we will get an idea of how to run our own stall. We then got to listen to some students who ran their own Market Day stalls last year and were able to take notes of their strategies and learn from their mistakes. Once Market Day is over, all profits earned by each group will be going to a charity of our choice. So while also learning about establishing and managing a business, we are simultaneously benefitting the community. Overall we are very excited for Market Day 2023 and are working hard towards a successful business.

On behalf of the Year 11 Business Management cohort, we would like to thank Josh Blanchard and Ms Vanstan for speaking to us, plus past Year 11 Business Management students - Marlon, Yadveer, Wageesha, Melissa, Sanidi, Lawanmie, Yegor Rithik and Lovidu.
