Dear Parents and Guardians,
I would like to start by thanking all parents, carers, and guardians for their ongoing support and involvement within our school community. Our Red Cliffs community is very fortunate to have such dedicated members supporting our school. As we know, Term 3 is well underway and there have been some fantastic student achievements across the school this term.
The 2023 NAPLAN results have now been released with pleasing results. I am particularly proud of the progress that has been made in literacy and numeracy across the year 7 and year 9 cohort, which is evident in the results achieved. Whilst the NAPLAN data represents only a small proportion of student achievement, it is with great delight to see such growth in key areas such as reading, writing, spelling and numeracy. Congratulations to all students on the successful participation in NAPLAN 2023. I would also like to acknowledge and thank our teachers who have worked extremely hard with all students in assisting their development in literacy and numeracy skills to enable the best chance at success.
On Wednesday night, 26th July, I had the pleasure in attending Red Cliffs Secondary College Production, ‘Annie’, which was held at the Mildura Arts Centre. There has been nothing but positive feedback and comments from those who have attended, and I personally was extremely proud of our students and how they performed. We clearly have some very skilled performers amongst our students, with a bright future in performing arts. The amount of work, effort, and commitment, that goes into a school production is endless, thankyou to all of those involved, including staff that gave up their time to prepare students for the performance, the students who sacrificed their lunch break, and further dedicated their time after hours, and to the families and friends of those involved, as well as all others who attended the performance and showed great support to our performing arts staff and students.
Our school Athletics Carnival was held on Monday, 24th July, at the Aerodrome Oval. Fortunately, we had somewhat decent weather for the event which topped the day off nicely. It was pleasing to see many students attend the athletics carnival and participate in events throughout the day. Congratulations to all champions, across all age groups, and a big shout out to winning house, ‘Warragai’, who have so far been our undefeated champs this year.
Over the next few weeks there are multiple events of importance taking place, please keep an eye out on our social media and web pages, as well as weekly newsletters for further updates and information. Year 10 into 11 Course Confirmation sessions will be taking place next Wednesday, 2nd August. Our current Year 10 students will be required to book an interview to confirm their subject choices for VCE. To allow time for student and parent interviews to take place, there will be no Year 10 classes held on this day. Parents can book interviews through COMPASS Conferences which is now open for bookings. If you are experiencing any issues with this, please contact the senior school team for assistance.
Thank you again for your ongoing support, it is very much appreciated, and we look forward to continuing the great work throughout the remainder of Term 3 and beyond.
Mr. Brad Vallance
Assistant Principal
