"Something Wicked This Way Comes"

As part of their studies of Shakespeare’s famous tragedy, Macbeth, two Middle Years’ English classes attended Ballarat High School to view a performance of the play by the Complete Works Theatre Company. Students viewed key scenes of the play, with the drunken Porter’s performance in Act 2 a major highlight. Aside from witnessing costuming and theatre stagecraft firsthand, students were also provided with some historical context for The Scottish Play, learning about the influence of the Gunpowder Plot of 1605 on its development.

After a hasty exit that had to be made to ensure that they could get home on time for their buses, the students walked away with some valuable insights that will be highly useful for their own performances this term.

Thank you to Ballarat High School for hosting us, and to Ms Moore and Mr James for co-ordinating the excursion.
