Principal's Message

Teresa Stone

Dear parents and carers,

Welcome back to term 4 2022.  We have an exciting term ahead with lots of learning still to happen!

Term 3 ended with a number of learning celebrations.  I was lucky enough to be invited to Junior community A and B to see their work and learn from them about plants and animals.  Their work was amazing and they were such wonderful scientists!!!  I have included a few pictures of their published reports. Well done Junior school!!!!!

In this newsletter, we have included a calendar of events for the rest of the term including whole school and learning community events, so families can have learning conversations at home and be prepared for upcoming activities.  You will also need to check the learning overview your child’s teacher sends home every week.

We will be focusing on building community through learning and working partnerships.  Our students and teachers have noticed that we really need to work on the question of “how do we include everyone in play and in learning teams?"

We will have a strong emphasis on mental health and wellbeing and will continue our work with Mike Spears on leadership and teamwork.  We will also be involved in the Department’s dog therapy initiative looking at how we care for others and invite people into our play and work and we will explore Bullying Zero strategies.

.

The aim is for our students to be able to self-regulate and be able to use the Zones of Regulation to support them in building happy, healthy relationships and manage themselves when things get a bit tricky.

As we head into week 2, just a reminder that we have 3-Way Conferences next week.  We are looking forward to celebrating the learning with your child and yourselves.  I also want to thank all of our amazing teachers and hope that they had a wonderful World Teacher's Day on Wednesday.

Yours Sincerely,

Teresa Stone

SunSmart Reminder

From Monday 3rd October, 5 things to remember...

UV levels in Victoria are on the rise again so from October it will be time to grab your sun protection gear and do the SunSmart Countdown. Whenever UV levels reach 3 and above, sun protection is needed because that is when the sun can start to damage skin and eyes and lead to skin cancer.

Use a combination of the following five sun protection measures:

  1. Slip on clothing that covers as much skin as possible (no singlet tops)
  2. Slop on SPF30+ broad spectrum sunscreen (remember to reapply it before going outside)
  3. Slap on a wide brimmed hat that shades the head, face, neck and ears)
  4. Seek shade
  5. Slide on some wraparound sunglasses (labelled AS 1067).
