Chaplain's Corner

   Hi Everyone,

We have had some wonderful SPRING weather this week after the recent rains!  Whilst sitting with students outside this week, taking advantage of the sunshine, all seemed ‘right within this space’ and my thoughts turned to HOPE!  With one student we watched a dragonfly dart around, with another we observed the new growth in the garden, with another we were almost ‘drowned out’ by the joyful sounds of the birdlife.

Even in areas of Victoria where flooding rain has caused despair and loss, there were glimmers of HOPE as people reached out to each other.

Last week we discussed GRATITUDE and how in the midst of life’s difficulties we all benefit from remembering and acknowledging the little and sometimes big things we are grateful for.  It is the same with HOPE – it gives us a growth mindset, ACCEPT THE THINGS THAT YOU CANNOT CHANGE, and CHANGE THE THINGS YOU CAN!

It is a bit like a tapestry – the underside looks a little ‘messy’, but it is the ‘colours’ of the threads that count.  Our lives are made up of many ‘colours’ and some of the most beautiful are when life was full of good times and HOPE. Maybe you can use this analogy with your child when life seems hard and help them to look for signs of HOPE - they are always there in the people around us, in that helpful friend, in Nature, in the highs and lows of the Yarra River as it flows through our community, in the things we are GRATEFUL for, etc….!

HOW MANY SIGNS OF HOPE CAN YOU AND YOUR FAMILY FIND?

May you and your family find joy and HOPE this SPRING!
